Staci sat quietly at a table in the Hog's Head, reading the newspaper. It was safer here, being quieter and less populated by Ministry members that generally went to the Leaky Cauldron. She scowled inwardly, reading the latest decree by the Ministry. Certainly, they wouldn't be able to keep something like that from being discovered, would they? How could they possibly expect any other nation to idly stand by as things progressively got worse on a daily basis.

Putus Matrimonium Decree
This is an amendment to the Putus Matrimonium Decree, enacted 4 February 2001.
Article 3- Purebloods:
1.Purebloods who do not marry another pureblood OR a half-blood will be fined and lowered in status.
2. Half-bloods who do not marry a pureblood will be fined, and risk imprisonment
Preferred marriage pairings will be sent out via Owl post. A sufferance fee of 500 Galleons will be charged to individuals who choose to go against the Ministry's recommendations.
The members of the Wizengamot apologise for any confusion that may have been caused.

Bellatrix was excited. At long last one of the slaves she had so desperately wanted was available to be taken. She found great pleasure in having those who had defied her or her Lord under her direct control and a member of the Order was a rare gift she would use again and again. With Draco off in America, she was terribly bored, and she needed something to do to amuse herself until his return.
She made orders for the girl to be brought to her dungeons at Grimmauld. Perhaps, she would make this one her special little pet, as Draco had made the Granger filth. It would amuse them both to have little mudblood lapdogs to do their bidding in public. And for her to have something to take her frustrations out on in private when need be. The Finch-Fletchley boy gave no sport any more.
Bella made sure the girl had been waiting a good long while, chained up in the dark, musty rooms as she dressed herself in her finest robes. She would make sure this chit knew who her mistress was and would always be. She also made sure her favourite 'aids' were waiting for her, and even her wand was specially polished to catch the low light of the room. The only thing that would make this better would be for Draco to be there to witness her at work. But, that was something she could share with him at any time.
She made her way down the stairs, and finally faced her newest slave. "Well, well, well, " she said in her sing song voice. "It seems that you've finally been allowed to show your devotion in a most noble household, Miss Spinnet."

Putus Matrimonium Decree
In order to preserve the sanctity of wizarding blood, the following decrees is hereby enacted 4 February 2001.
There will now be four recognized classifications of wizard kind accepted :
1. Plenus Putus: those pureblood wizards who can prove their linage for four generations and more have been nothing but witches and wizards
2. Minor Putus: those those pureblood wizards who can prove their linage for at least two generations but not more than four generations and more have been nothing but witches and wizards
3. Halfblood: those those pureblood wizards who can prove their linage less than two generations have been nothing but witches and wizards, or witches and wizards with one muggle parent or grandparent.
4. Muggleborns: witches and wizards born of muggles.
Muggleborns:
1. may not marry under any circumstances
2. may not procreate under any circumstances
3. muggleborns conceived prior to the issuing of this decree will be taken as property of the Ministry of Magic upon birth
Halfboods:
1. All individuals, lacking at least one parent with a pureblood lineage of at least 4 generations, conceived prior to the issuing of this decree will be taken as property of the Ministry upon their birth. Said individuals will be forbidden to reproduce.
2. All current half-bloods that have not conceived prior to the issuing of this decree will only be allowed to marry a pureblood of at least 2 generations.
3. Any half-blood who chooses to marry another half-blood or refuses to comply with marriage recommendations made by the Office of Pureblood Sanctity shall be fined the sum of 500 Galleons.
Purebloods:
1.Purebloods that do not marry another pureblood will be fined and lowered in status.

Daphne was far from a social butterfly, but that didn't mean she didn't enjoy socializing. Sometimes, getting together with friends was the exact thing one needed for a change of pace and a bit of unwinding. It had been a while since she'd last spent time with Pansy, and she was looking forward to the outing. Where they'd go was left fairly open. It could be for a bit of coffee and ice cream, or they could go to a bar and a few drinks of the alcoholic variety. All that had been planned officially was a meeting place and time.
In case they went somewhere that had a dress code, Daphne had dressed up a bit. Her hair was done, she was wearing just a bit of jewelry, and had a touch of makeup on. Otherwise, she was still dressed casually enough that she wouldn't look horribly out of place in a bar or a nice coffee shop. Perhaps a bit too nicely dressed for a sleazy bar, but it didn't seem like the sort of place Pansy would suggest they go...unless it was on a dare.
The petite blonde arrived a few minutes early at the planned meeting place. With her hands resting in her robe pockets, she waited for Pansy to arrive so their girls' night out could begin.

Summary: Sometimes being a Healer is rewarding work. Other times, it makes one want to run away screaming with arms flailing like a spastic octopus.
Rating: PG-PG13 (depending on how you rate descriptions of interesting magical mishaps)
Status: Incomplete
The vast majority of the time, Daphne took her career very seriously. She saw Healing as a noble profession dedicated to caring for others and fixing maladies. However, every so often, there were incidents that were laugh-worthy. Daphne was professional enough to never laugh right at a patient, but she couldn't help but find some of the odder self-inflicted problems amusing. If nothing else, any time she doubted her competence with magic, all she had to do was remember some of the things she'd seen in St. Mungo's.
Normally, Daphne dealt with Potion and Plant Poisoning, but sometimes Healers were called upon to work in other areas, depending on what kind of a rush there was.
At the moment, she was having trouble figuring out if the fellow before her was supposed to go to Artifact Accidents, or to Spell Damage. Either way, the small tree branches (complete with leaves) that seemed to be growing out of his chest piqued her curiosity.
"I'll be right back, sir. I'm going to see if a co-worker of mine knows which floor would serve you better," said Daphne reassuringly.
Spotting Tracey not too far away, she walked quickly towards her. Once she was close enough to her friend to speak in a hushed voice, she said, "You have got to see this patient. I'm also having a bit of trouble directing him."

Harry didn't know what possessed him to actually ask Tracey Davis to have a drink. Was he really that--yes. He didn't even have to finish asking himself the question. Ron was quiet for the time being, and it was always dangerous for him and Ron it be seen together. The Ministry toad would follow them everywhere.
It was strange to think he felt somewhat comfortable with a former Slytherin. He sat at the bar, waiting. He wondered if she'd like some dinner as well. Drinking on an empty stomach would just get then pissed faster and...that wouldn't be good. He'd promised a few people now he wasn't going to spend every night piss drunk anymore.

Work certainly kept Daphne busy. It was fairly common for her to be so tired after work that she had no energy to do things like take a nice walk through Diagon Alley to do some personal shopping. Today was somewhat of an exception. She was tired, yes, but not so tired that she couldn't handle a little walking. Daphne had a list of things she wanted to buy. A present for her youngest sibling's upcoming birthday, some smart new robes for herself, and she was feeling generous enough to buy something for both her slave and her house elf. To her knowledge, Jeannette hadn't had any new robes since muggleborns had become slaves.
That would simply not do. Daphne had never seen muggleborns as her social equal, but she'd also never thought they should be treated like this. Of course, she was wondering what was appropriate. It was one thing to be seen as a generous and gentle mistress. Daphne doubted she could have pulled off 'harsh' without a good deal of acting lessons and without feeling appalled at herself afterwards. It was another thing to be seen as a mudblood sympathizer. Well, someone could probably tell her what was appropriate. It just seemed like an awkward question to ask.
